i know i'm still prehistoric with my dialup but i don't think thats the entire problem. whenever i try to access the board, 90% of the time it completely freezes and i can't access anything. if i go to another site, no problem.
sometimes i can get the homepage, but when i click on the one of the message board links, it never loads. and just a second ago, i was trying to go to another page on one of the links and it froze up and kept a blank screen.
any clues about this? thats about the best i can describe it.
Whoa...that's heavily screwed up man. I've not heard of that happening to anyone before. And I'm clueless as to the cause, much less any solution.
Let's start here: has anyone else had this happen?
Being that it only happens here and not on other sites is very puzzling. Logic and experience tells me that the dial-up factor is a big part of it. I think you're, what, one of 3 people east of the Mississippi still on dial up? (sorry dude, saw the shot...had to take it.)
But that's the extent of my solutions. I'll contact my support people in the next couple days and see what they got to say about it. (Hopefully they have some older staff that remember what dial up is.)
Seriously man, that sucks and I will see what can be done as soon as I can. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to shout out. It is NOT my area of expertise so I welcome any suggestions (short of telling dirtcracker to join the 21st century. Oooooh! 3 times! I better get out of here with my skin while I can.)

I've seen you 20% juiced before and you can walk a straight line. Once you hit about 50% juiced then you start stumbling and mumbling and no one can understand what you're saying. WAIT! No one can understand whay you're saying when you're sober!

and i don't mind shots about dialup. i mean i do have a crank sticking out of the side i have to wind up. picture cranking a jack in the box only with no scary thing popping out. yeah, thats what i have.
i think i recall Giggles telling me she was having a similar problem a while back too.
ALSO - i can't post messages from my blackberry. i can type the hell out of one, but when i scroll down to "submit" nothing. trackball won't do it nor hitting enter.
Okay dirt, I think I gots some answers here. Sorry for the delay. I'd blame Support but they're fast. I've been busy and didn't get to them til last week.
First off, regarding Blackberry: "...at this moment we do not support this kind of devices and we cannot guarantee that all the features on the site will work properly."
You can view the site on a blackberry but you cannot post to the boards.
As far as the speed, there is no doubt that your modem connection is the issue. But there may be things about the site that are compounding the problem. OR it could be a combination of that and an issue with your connection/computer reaching their servers.
Support sent me something of a list of questions regarding your machine and connections, as well as a way to do a trace route between your machine and their servers (which may help to determine the slowdown.)
I'll email all that to you. Meanwhile, for you and any other dinosaurs out there, here's one quick and easy thing to try: go to www.mofrofans.com/bandmembers.html That page has the least amount of "gadgetry" on it. The problem you're experiencing could be as simple as that I got too much shit on the message board pages--down at the bottom, the Flickr slide show(s), the YouTube vids, etc. So if the band members page opens quickly for you with no problems, I think we've got our answer (and I can come up with a solution.)
